We've teamed up with a judging panel of music industry giants, ARIA winners/nominees, as well as some huge sponsors to bring our students the opportunity to be rewarded for their great work and score some great prizes.

Rob Hirst
Midnight Oil

Hirst formed Midnight Oil along with guitarist/keyboards player Jim Moginie in Sydney in 1977, and over the next five years, the Oils made their way to the top the hard way—by touring the east coast of Australia incessantly and winning over tough Australian pub audiences. With the release of their fourth album, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, in late 1982, Midnight Oil established dominance of the Australian rock scene.

 

Izzi Manfredi
The Preatures

The Preatures are an Australian band from Sydney. The band was formed in 2010 and features Isabella 'Izzi' Manfredi on vocals/keyboards, Jack Moffitt (guitar), Thomas Champion (bass) and Luke Davison (drums). Gideon Bensen was a member of the band until 2016. In 2013, the band won the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition with their song "Is This How You Feel?"

 

Nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Pop Release,and being voted ninth in the prestigious Triple J Hottest 100 Blue Planet Eyes, their debut studio album, was released on 30 September 2014,which peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart the ARIA Music Awards of 2015 the group were nominated in three categories. Their album Girlhood was released on 11 August 2017 on Island Records and was nominated for an ARIA Music Award for Best Rock Album.

 

Mark Lizotte
Johnny Diesel and the Injectors

Since 1987, Lizotte, who was born in Massachusetts, United States, has played on several albums by his brother-in law, Australian rock singer, Jimmy Barnes. Although better known as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, Lizotte is also competent on bass guitar, drums, percussion and keyboards; and has also produced an album by Richard Clapton and one by Vika and Linda Bull.He has won six ARIA Music Awards with three for 'Best Male Artist' in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

 

Peter Holz
ARIA Winning Audio Engineer and Producer

Peter is a JMC Alumni and has a second home at Sony Music Australia as an in-house engineer and producer, which has seen him work with major international and Australian artists such as Fifth Harmony, Gang Of Youths, Vance Joy, Peking Duk, Olly Murs, Delta Goodrem, The Veronicas and Pusha T.

 

In 2015 Peter was nominated for the 'Engineer of the Year' ARIA award in recognition of his work on the debut album from Gang Of Youths, 'The Positions'. To date, Peter has collected 4 ARIA awards.
