Five-piece alt-rock outfit, Mild West, released their highly anticipated debut album, Machine Learning. Mild West’s Lead Vocalist and Producer Liam Bell graduated with our Bachelor of Creative Technology (Audio Engineering & Sound Production) in 2016. He has used his degree as both an audio engineer and music creator and has joined the JMC team as a lecturer. Liam, when creating music, lets his experience in audio engineering guide the production of his songs, composing primarily from a digital audio workstation. He starts with a fundamental idea either on the guitar or piano and builds his songs around that idea in ProTools.

From the beginning notes of the title track and opener, 'Machine Learning', audiences are welcomed to the immersive and theatrical world of Mild West.

"To emphasise the science fiction themes, the album heavily utilises electronic and synthetic elements with lots of artificial sounds to create a cold, digital aesthetic. Machine Learning strives to create a picture of the not too distant future and highlight the potential dangers and benefits that may come from humanities innovation in the 21st century."
