This course is much more than just learning how to nail a performance. It’s about learning the tools to promote yourself and stand out in a digital age. You'll choose from the most diverse range of electives to ensure you graduate as a competent musician and curator of your own career path.

Evolve your music writing, music technology and live performance skills under the tutelage of some of the best teachers and performers in the music industry. You will receive weekly one-on-one private lessons on your major instrument to improve your technical facility, musicality, and performance skills, and at the end of the major this will culminate into a large-scale major project, which could contain elements of recorded performance as well as a live recital.

Lecturer Spotlight: Ric Rufio

Dan Mifsud (stage name: Ric Rufio) is a songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and JMC Sydney music lecturer whose dynamic career has led him to collaborate with some of the most revered artists worldwide. He has shared the stage with Ed Sheeran and Adele and is currently a leading tour vocalist for Flight Facilities, a role that has seen him perform at major international events, including Coachella in 2024.

In addition to his collaborative work, Ric has pursued his solo career with notable success. In 2016, he uploaded a song to SoundCloud, which unexpectedly went viral, attracting attention from international labels Def Jam and Parlophone and has since gone on to release tracks that have received over 500,000 Spotify streams.
