Combining technical principles with pure creative expression, this hands-on course will help you begin to find your style as a creative composer, sharpen your production skills and create compositions that use inventive sounds and concepts. You will receive - at the core of your music production studies - weekly one-on-one private mentoring sessions to work on your production skills, songwriting, and work on developing a folio of original material and production work.

Gain the core skills you need to pursue a career in the audio industry and build a legendary portfolio full of finished projects and practical industry experience along the way. Within the Bachelor you will be mentored by well-connected industry professionals ready to help you leap straight into a rewarding career. During the bachelor's degree, explore acoustic design, microphone techniques, audio electronics and music production, and learn how this can be applied to mixed media such as television, film, digital design and games. Collaborating with these students on real projects will give you a broader context in which to apply your skills and expand your professional network. You’ll also get the opportunity to focus in an area most aligned to your skills and interests by taking electives including Live Events, Studio Production, Sound for Screen and Electronic Music Production. Explore post-production, surround sound and large-scale live sound systems, develop an area of specialty and create a tailored showreel designed to kick-start your career in the industry.

Ric Rufio

Lecturer Spotlight: Ric Rufio

Dan Mifsud (stage name: Ric Rufio) is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, songeriter and JMC Sydney music lecturer whose dynamic career has led him to collaborate with some of the most revered artists worldwide. He has shared the stage with Ed Sheeran and Adele and is currently a leading tour vocalist for Flight Facilities, a role that has seen him perform at major international events, including Coachella in 2024.

In addition to his collaborative work, Ric has pursued his solo career with notable success. In 2016, he uploaded a song to SoundCloud, which unexpectedly went viral, attracting attention from international labels Def Jam and Parlophone and has since gone on to release tracks that have received over 500,000 Spotify streams.
