So you’ve enrolled into your course and are ready to start, but what can you do in the mean time to prepare for your next chapter?
A new year means we are welcoming a whole new bunch of students to the JMC Academy Community! We're so excited to introduce you all to the endless possibilities that come from studying the ever-evolving creative industry.
So that you're ready to jump in and start learning, we’ve put together a checklist of things you could be doing now so your first day here at JMC is as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
Email your respective campus SRA’s (our lovely student admissions team) to make sure they add you to the new student facebook groups relevant to your campus. These groups are made specifically for you to meet new people and keep up to date with the latest events, news and work opportunities for your course as they come through.
Find out where the good coffee and lunch spots are at, and how to get to and from JMC on public transport. Preparation is key! Especially when it comes to coffee.
Everyone’s guilty pleasure has to be stationary shopping! Grab yourself a diary or planner to keep yourself organised, get a hold of the books you need to get you through the trimester and the most important stationary must have - pens!
Keep up to date with industry websites, articles, social media accounts and journals so you will have a starting base as you learn more about your respective industry. We regularly post helpful industry advice as well to help you out so check out our news articles!
It’s always a good idea to build your resume with work experience so get a head start and volunteer for anything industry relevant in your spare time.
When inspiration strikes, write your ideas down! Coming to your first day of classes with some ideas for future projects or even things you'd like to try is going to keep you motivated throughout the trimester and help ypu stick to a plan - even if you don’t use them, it can be a great starting point!
JMC Academy holds a variety of events throughout the trimester, both online and on-campus including Masterclasses, Information Sessions and Industry Events. Check out what events are coming up here and jot them down!
BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE STARTING AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON CAMPUS!
