On Saturday night, a crew of enthusiastic JMC Film & TV students operated the live broadcast event for the Australian Production Design Guild (APDG ) Awards!

As an official sponsor of the APDG Awards, JMC were proud to have our students involved in a night of celebrations, acknowledging Australia's best designers working across the film, television, live performance and interactive multimedia industries.

The annual awards took place at the Queensland State Library, right opposite JMC’s Brisbane campus! The live broadcast crew for the awards included JMC film lecturer and alumni Jacob Shrimpton as the Co-Director, David Vaele as Producer, Boon Chuah as the Technical Director, Matthew Marshall as the Vision Switcher, Travis James, Zac Smullen and Hamish Purnell as Camera Operators and Paige Van Dijk as the Floor Manager. The students (who are currently studying live multicam) not only got hands-on experience operating top quality gear with a team of professionals, but received a fantastic networking opportunity to connect with award-winning industry legends such as John Dowding, Matt Putland, Tanika Rainbow Pratt and Michelle McGahey, whilst applying what they learnt in class.

Congratulations to the students and staff involved and to all the nominees and winners at the APDG Awards!
