What does life look like as a songwriter and recording artist? Our Sydney students got the chance to ask international artist, Dermot Kennedy.
On Monday our Sydney Music Students experienced the absolute joy of meeting and learning from Irish singer and songwriter Dermot Kennedy!
Dermot has returned to Australia this month following a string of sold-out dates last year, but this time around he made the space for a very special, exclusive mentoring session with our Sydney Music students.
Kicking things off with a Q&A, hosted by JMC Music Lecturer and industry songwriter, Paul Aiden, Dermot drew on his own experience navigating the Music Industry, answering questions on the process of writing meaningful music, setting yourself up as an artist for the long term and staying grounded in your knowledge of self.
Then, Dermot took the time to listen to students tracks and and answered their questions about how to navigate your career as a musician. Finishing up the day with an incredible, moving acoustic performance of Two Hearts and Outnumbered.
Thanks so much Dermot and the Universal Music team for helping us to provide this indispensable industry wisdom to our students and giving them the opportunity to have their songs heard by one of the worlds most well known modern songwriters!
