Give it up for these awesome (and JMC-associated) women who are finalists in this year’s Australian Women In Music Awards!

We love to see an awards series that champions  women in the creative industries, and initiatives like the Australian Women In Music Awards (AWMAs) are currently giving the musical femmes the recognition they deserve! We’ve been championing women in music since day dot, so when we heard that this year’s AWMA nominees included some of our alumni and staff we knew we had to celebrate!

Check out some of the women who’s journeys we are so proud to have been a part of:

Chelsea Wilson

Chelsea is a passionate songwriter, producer, artistic director and guiding light for so many (female) artists and music industry professionals. Her podcast series Control is dedicated to championing women in music, so it gives us so much joy to see her nominated for the AWMA Creative Leadership Award. Since studying at JMC back in 2008, Chelsea’s career in music surely serves as an incredible example to all JMC students today and in the future.

Nazlican Eren

EBM grad Nazlican Eren is nominated for the Inaugural ARIA Executive Leader Game Changer Award and although we are obviously super impressed, we’re not at all surprised. The radio presenter, entertainment industry gun and founder of CHERUB artist management is packing an incredible amount of skills and the essential grit that all game changers require.

Jane Gazzo

Jane is a music journalist, TV presenter, author, MC, public speaker and bonafide industry legend that also happens to be an Entertainment Business and Music lecturer at JMC! This year, Jane has received her third Music Journalist Award nomination from the AWMAs - a clear indicator that she is one of the absolute best in the biz.

It’s such an honour and a pleasure to see our students and staff excel in the areas they are so passionate about! We wish Chelsea, Nazlican and Jane all the best wishes for their AWMA nomination (and beyond!) and congratulate all of the women who are working to enrich and enhance Australia’s creative sector.
