Game Design & Animation: Now On Their Own Creative Tracks
In the past, JMC’s Game Design and Animation courses shared a lot of introductory skills and units, but no more. These two powerhouse degrees are now officially on separate narrative arcs, letting students dive even deeper into their chosen field! That means whether you want to build interactive gaming experiences or craft stunnin' animated visuals, you’ll get the specialised training to master your craft from day one.

Let's Play Through More Major Upgrades to the Game Design Degree!
Learn Unreal & Unity:
JMC now fully integrates both Unreal Engine and Unity into the curriculum, giving students hands-on experience with the industry’s leading tools. Unreal is widely used in AAA game development for its high-fidelity graphics and real-time rendering capabilities, while Unity dominates in indie and mobile gaming. Mastering both means more job opportunities across different sectors of the gaming industry.
More Studio Experience:
Additional Studio units means there’s now a studio unit every trimester and a new Studio Workshop C in trimester 1, so you’ll be creating constantly. This continuous, hands-on approach ensures that by the time you graduate, you’ve already worked on multiple games and built a solid portfolio.
New UI/UX Unit:
A game is only as good as its user experience. This unit sharpens your ability to design intuitive, player-friendly interactions, making sure your games don’t just look good but feel good to play.
Accessing Professional Skills Earlier:
Professional Practice now happens in Trimester 5, meaning you get valuable industry mentorship before your final projects. This lets you apply professional feedback to your portfolio while still at JMC, ensuring you graduate with work that’s industry-ready.
Why Are These Updates A Huge Deal?
Even More Industry Alignment: As if we're aligning our courses even more (well we are)! These updates make sure what you’re learning matches exactly what the industry needs right now.
More Hands-On Experience: With extra studio work in game design, students will be creating, refining, and collaborating more than ever.
Stronger Project Management Skills: It’s not just about creativity—you’ll leave with real-world skills in managing complex projects, preparing you for the demands of professional life.
