THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER... ‘Paraglock’ has been selected to represent JMC Academy at PAX Aus 2024 in Melbourne!

JMC’s very own Cooper Heriot (Project Lead/Programmer/Game Designer), Sarah Nguyen (Creative Art Director/Texturer/3D Modeller) and Jessie Hazim (Concept Artist/3D Modeller/Trigger) have been given the opportunity to showcase their game this October at the biggest indie game-design showcase down under in Melbourne sponsored by JMC Academy!

PAX Aus is a three-day celebration of gaming and gaming culture featuring panels with the best publishers and independent studios, game demos, musical performances, tournaments, and a community experience unlike any other. PAX Aus offers the community an opportunity to interact with game developers, publishers and brands whilst showcasing their game alongside some of the best indie developers in Australia. What a way to launch a student project!!

About the Game

Upset over a faulty new gun, your character must fight their way to Para-CoTM headquarters in order to get a refund. While the new gun might not work right, it has left you quantumly unstable, instead of picking up new weapons you create a new timeline, which you must play through alongside the original timeline.

Speaking to the current Game Design students behind ‘paraglock’, they said “The JMC Game Design course helped a lot to be able to put together pieces of the game” (Cooper Heriot). “There are a lot of talented people that I’ve met at JMC. All the lecturers are very supportive, especially with technical support.” “I learnt a lot of techniques and tools from JMC that helped a lot when creating ‘Paraglock’. Mostly with technical aspects such as optimising, but also with game design and with making the game more player friendly.” (Sarah Nguyen)

We are so proud to be a partner of PAX AUS 2024 and to be involved in such a massive event for the gaming community. As always, partnerships at JMC mean nothing if they don't provide incredible opportunities for our students to connect with industry professionals, so we are so excited to be bringing our students along to PAX for the second year running. Massive congratulations to Cooper Heriot, Sarah Nguyen and Jessie Hazim on their game ‘Paraglock’. We can't wait to help showcase your incredible work to the Australian Gaming community come October!!

PAX Australia runs from 11-13 October at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. For more information on the event, visit the PAX Aus website.
