At JMC, we are constantly striving to better our students' learning and campus experience, which is why we are proud to have received our best QILT Survey responses yet!
Now we know you’re sitting there thinking “What the heck is QILT? Isn’t it those things Scottish guys wear?” Well – yes, but the QILT we’re talking about is the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) is a data group that conducts government-endorsed surveys each year, where students voluntarily answer questions and give feedback about their overall experiences at their chosen universities, academies or any high education provider in Australia.
These survey answers are then translated into easy to digest results which are available to provide prospective students with relevant and transparent information about higher education institutions they may choose to study at in the future with the tools to make an informed decision.
JMC Academy's Results
Based on the 2019 QILT Survey completed by current students around Australia, JMC Academy achieved some outstanding results with an overall satisfaction rate of 83.3% and ranked higher than ALL Major Creative Art Institutions and Australia's Five Biggest Universities in:
- Overall Experience 83.3%
- Skills Development 85.1%
- Teaching Practices 86.1%
- Student Support 84.8%
Why is being ranked high so important?
The internet is littered with a heap of ranking websites and pages that give a varying version of the “Top 10” Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Australia. What makes the QILT Survey Rankings the most reliable is that they reflect student satisfaction by using six unique measures of satisfaction that help students gain a holistic opinion of the institution.
As a student, it is essential to find a campus culture where you feel comfortable and happy, allowing you to thrive in your career path, and without being able to experience the campus and learning abilities as an attending student, hearing from current and past students becomes the next best thing.
JMC’s high rankings are not only going to stand out to students thinking of studying with us, but also with employers across the globe. Businesses have increasingly been using institution rankings to source graduates for internships, freelancing opportunities and permanent job positions which can be a big help in a competitive industry like the creative arts.
What do our students have to say?
Whilst our percentages and rankings are important to take into consideration, we believe that numbers are not the only way to assess satisfaction which is why we are in constant communication with our students to collect constructive feedback about their learning experience. Our academic team recently conducted another student survey to collect the most up to date feedback from our current students, take a look at what they have to say...
"The best aspect is being able to work with equally motivated students and have the support of knowledgeable industry professionals."
"It's clear that the lecturers and staff at JMC love their job and deeply care for all their students, both academically and socially. The equipment that is available is phenomenal and as a student, I feel very lucky that I am able to take advantage of the fact that I have a vast network of friends that are striving to be in the same industry that I am confident I will excel at my potential careers."
"Lecturers explaining the course content in a way that helps students understand and learn, unlike in high school where you read from a book and don't absorb anything. It's also nice to be treated as an adult, be understood and the social aspect of JMC is great too."
"The sense of community created by studying with a small cohort and getting to know teachers and peers well."
"Learning at a smaller post-secondary learning facility is probably the best aspect of JMC Academy. We are able to talk with the lecturers and receive feedback that's personalised and quick, and our lecturers are always checking in with us to see if we're doing okay."
"Cross collaboration between courses and being able to learn skills I didn't even know were possible to use in my future career."
"I thoroughly enjoy the curriculum and the outside opportunities JMC provides us. Just the other week I was able to be a part of a live streaming event for the Melbourne Web Festival Awards in which I was a camera operator. It was an extremely educational experience, and it was nice to put the skills I’ve developed over the last 18 months into practical use."
