This is Tilburg—a small yet welcoming city in the Netherlands that became the backdrop for Johnathon's transformative journey. Through JMC Academy's exchange program with Fontys University, he ventured beyond the familiar, embracing a world filled with new friendships, cultural experiences, and personal growth. Here’s his story:

" Tilburg is a small but warm and welcoming city, which made it easy to get to know people, settle down and become accustomed to Dutch culture.

With Tilburg being in the heart of Europe, travelling was a highlight of my exchange. I had the opportunity to visit numerous countries on a tight budget. From the lively streets of Paris (6 hour drive) to the clubs of Berlin (8 hour drive), every trip was a unique experience enriching my cultural appreciation.

Making friends from all over the world was another incredible aspect of my exchange. The international student community in Tilburg is diverse and vibrant, allowing me to form lasting connections with peers from various backgrounds.

Having the ability to work on Exchange secured me employment at a techno venue in Tilburg. This added a practical dimension to my experience, providing insights into international work cultures and enhancing my professional skills.

Attending events such as the Draaimolen Festival in Tilburg and Awakenings in Amsterdam for New Year’s were amazing experiences. These events showcased the dynamic and lively spirit of the Netherlands, and allowed me to broaden my knowledge of the international music scene. All-over, I believe that the opportunity to learn and explore the world, whilst being supported by JMC and fellow students, is an unmissable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. "
